COPENHAGEN CONTINUES TO BREAK THE RECORD FOR INVESTMENTS

Two months before the end of the year, Copenhagen Capacity has surpassed last year's record result in terms of job creation by attracting foreign investment and businesses.1,276 new jobs in the bag by early November gives high hopes of a fantastic annual result. In 2010, the total was 1,184 jobs, with 989 jobs in 2009.

- The crisis is still very prevalent in many places in the global economy, and last week's s critical statements from major Danish companies show that the state of the world economy is still affecting the desire of companies throughout the world to invest. Therefore, Copenhagen Capacity is very proud to present a record result for 2011 - the third in a row, and two months before the end of the year. We have surpassed last year's amazing performance in a tough market and I am incredibly proud, says Managing Director Claus Lønborg.

With the new record in the bag so early, the Director can sit back and look forward to the final result and to 2012.

- As it looks now, we expect to achieve a total of just over 1,400 jobs in 2011. At the same time, we are in the favourable position of having some lucrative, potential investment cases in the pipeline. Whether they will be resolved before or after New Year is hard to say, but there are two or three cases involving over 300 jobs. But they are also vital because although recent years have been good ones for Copenhagen Capacity, we have to face the fact that the global economic situation may challenge our current run of good fortune at some stage. But of course we will do everything we can to ensure that 2012 will be another successful year for Copenhagen Capacity, says Claus Lønborg.

And three years of success amid a global financial crisis does give high hopes for the coming years in terms of further good results. The way to do it, according to Claus Lønborg, is to find more effective ways to integrate Copenhagen Capacity’s cluster activities and more traditional investment promotion projects.

-Business and investment promotion and the attracting of foreign talent are the largest and most important challenges for Denmark over the next 10 years, and as a nation, we must become better at understanding the mindset that characterizes business in other parts of the world. Therefore, it is also crucial for Copenhagen Capacity’s continued success that we work smarter with investment promotion and integrate the many projects we work on into other areas in order to boost our core business of attracting companies and talent to the region, says Claus Lønborg.
